Willie On the Pot

Louisiana state police searched Willie Nelson's tour bus during a routine traffic stop today, and after discovering a healthy store of pot and narcotic mushrooms, the 73 year old singer and four traveling companions, all of whom are over the age of 50, were issued misdemeanor possession citations.

The trooper became suspicious when he smelled the strong odor of marijuana wafting out of the vehicle, and the ensuing search uncovered the illegal plants.

When asked why he would carry marijuana after previous encounters with the law, Nelson explained simply, "Because we are in Louisiana". Those nearby nodded silently in understanding.

After accepting the citation, Nelson and his companions, along with the officers and some dudes that had stopped to rubber neck climbed aboard the bus, and were last seen weaving across the state line back into Texas.
