God Debate Debacle
Well, the debate I recently mentioned here between Ray Comfort with celebrity figure-head Kirk Cameron and the Rational Response Squad's Brian Sapient and Kelly was filmed for ABC's Nightline on Saturday May 5, and aired on ABC programming on Tuesday May 7 (as of this posting, the program had yet to air on ABC's Nightline).
You can go to the Nightline website and see portions of the debate for yourself (the entire Face-Off should be posted by Thursday, May 10).
Comfort had claimed he would prove the existence of God without using faith or discussing the Bible. As expected, he could not come close to upholding that claim, relying heavily on personal anecdotes, appeals to faith, and many many references to things in the Bible.
I don't think there was a speck of evidence to support the existence of God presented, and aside from the program revealing the logical incompetence of Comfort and Cameron, the debate served no purpose other than to discredit them . . . . And they were the ones who initiated it!!
But it's semi-entertaining, so go take a look and see how even the minimal critical thinking employed by Brian and Kelly was enough to dismantle an argument from ignorance.

I will be watching the debate tonight. But even though I consider myself a Christ-follower, I am not impressed with these two. It is a sad day when the a Mike Seaver is put out as the leading spokesperson for the Christian faith. I will be watching but I feared that it was going to be a train-wreck.

Thanks for the comment, Bill. They are few and far between lately.
If it's any consolation, from what I saw, Comfort and Cameron got their message across. The audience seemed fairly equally divided, and both sets of presenter earned appluase.
But Comfort and Cameron simply failed to prove the existence of God as they claimed they would, and looking at it strictly as a debate, I would have to give the edge to Brian and Kelly.
