Cindy Clayton

Cindy Clayton

Once upon a time, in a magical land called Texas, there lived a little girl who loved three things above all else: horses, wickedly sarcastic humor, and horses. She was also pretty darned fond of ponies.

The little girl (we'll call her Cindy) grew up to be a French major, meaning that after four years at an institution of higher learning, she was eminently qualified to ask McDonald's patrons, "Et des pommes frites avec?"

After leaving school, Cindy met the wrong guy, got a job in Corporama as a technical writer, married the wrong guy, got pretty good at this tech-writing gig, changed jobs an average of once a year, never took time to dance, and didn't have nearly enough fun. As they say in France: Quelle drag.

Finally, she divorced the wrong guy, took up horseback riding for the first time since the age of 11, and gave herself permission to dance. Not unexpectedly, she found her bliss.

Over the next few years, Cindy met the right guy, found a job she could really dig, and kept dancing. Just for fun, she also learned to operate a trebuchet and fire a crossbow, albeit with alarmingly poor accuracy. She bought her own horse, married the right guy, and got certified to teach dancing to other people.

Then she and the right guy decided to see if they could make a baby. They could-and in record time, they did. Audrey Clayton entered the world on April 7, 2005, and things will never be the same for Cindy.

Except for her love of wickedly sarcastic humor. And that horse thing.
